CELEBRATE YOUR PET AT SUNDAY MORNING ZEN
Metta for animals! You and your animal companion are invited to the Zen Center for a Pet Blessing on Sunday, Sept. 14th @ 10 am. We’ll meet in the courtyard to chant the Heart Sutra and celebrate the living animals in our midst and to honor the pets remembered on the Pet Memorial. We’ll have a talking circle to woof and meow (and talk) about the animals who’ve been an important part of our lives. We will end the morning with treats for all, including the furry sangha.
Roshi June is collecting pet names to be inscribed on stones to display on the Pet Memorial. Each stone (one name per stone) is a donation of $50. The last day to submit a pet name is Aug. 30th. Reach out to Roshi June at june.tanoue@zlmc.org to have a pet memorialized in this way..
Bill McKibben, the prophet of global climates dark truths, has published a new book with a positive story that is not yet being fully told and appreciated. “There is one good big thing happening among all the big bad things happening on our planet” he says, and “it is going so far largely unnoticed.” The speed with which the world is transitioning to new technologies for solar power is unprecedented. Solar power is now the biggest source of energy in the world, and yet, we still don’t seem to take it seriously. That is about to change.
