Inner Disarmament

Inner Disarmament Workshop
The Art of Pro-active Communication
Saturday, October 26th @ 1:00 PM

Nonviolent Comminication (NVC) is a language of life that encourages a way of speaking and listening that builds stronger bonds of trust and collaboration. These skills empower people to navigate challenging conflicts, fostering greater confidence in resolving interactions in a way that benefits everyone. Roshi Robert Althouse has been teaching these skills for over fifteen years.

This workshop will integrate four things:

  • Consciousness: a set of principles that support living a life of compassion, collaboration, courage, and authenticity

  • Language: understanding how words contribute to connection or dis-connection

  • Communication: knowing how to ask for what we need, how to remain present during a conflict, and how to move forward toward solutions that work for everyone

  • Collaboration: sharing “power with others” rather than using “power over others”

This work will help participants:

  • Increase their ability to live with choice, meaning, and connection

  • Connect empathically with self and others to have more satisfying relationships

  • Share resources so everyone benefits

The skills learned in this workshop will help participants learn a new, more pro-active way of speaking and listening. These skills can help reduce animosity and turn conflict into an opportunity to grow stronger bonds of trust and collaboration.
