April 17 – October 2, 2011

ENROLLMENT FORM

Message from Roshi Robert Joshin Althouse

Dear Advanced Members,

You are the heart of our Sangha community. Your practice and your commitment inspire and help others.

This year we are holding our 3rd Zen Leadership Training (ZLT) (Ango) for a six month period. It will begin with an opening ceremony on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 pm and end with the Shuso Hossen (Dharma Combat) ceremony that culminates a 7 day sesshin on Sunday, October 2, at 2:00 pm.

We are offering this training only to Advanced Members and we offer it to you for FREE.

I have asked Shojun Brendon Gross to be the Head Trainee for this ZLT.. I am confident in his abilities and his commitment to the Buddha-Dharma.

Our sangha community is growing. Our current membership is made up of 59 people (16 Advanced Members and 43 Practicing Members). It is a diverse and wonderful group of people.

Part of my vision is that those of your doing Zen training here at ZLMC will increasingly step into positions of leadership and service in relationship to the larger community. Participating in the Zen Leadership Training is the best way for you to begin to do this, so I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and join the ZLT this year.

Gassho,

Joshin Roshi

Message from Head Trainee,

Brendon Shojun Gross

Dear Advanced Members,

I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to serve as Head Trainee of the Zen Leadership Training (ZLT) this year.

My Zen practice was born out of a longing to share my life with others. With the guidance of Joshin Roshi and through practicing with each one of you, I have realized the great joy I experience when I open my life to family, friends, co-workers, and Sangha.

The theme for this years ZLT is: Being Buddha, Being Dharma, Being Sangha. Are you Buddha at work or when you are with family? Are you living the Dharma when you feel stuck in a meeting? Are you with Sangha when sitting in traffic or on a crowded train? How can we see each moment of our life as the Three Treasures: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha?

I am excited for this opportunity to study and train together during the ZLT. We are all living busy lives, but I encourage you to think creatively about how you can participate in this yearÕs ZLT. What can you learn, teach, or share through this Leadership Training that will enrich your life and support the Sangha community?

Gassho,

Shojun Brendon Gross
