Tai Chi Classes
Often known as meditation in motion, Tai Chi is a healing art derived from ancient Chinese martial arts. This hour long class will include exercises for balance, coordination, and posture—all taught in an atmosphere of compassion. Bring your beginner’s mind and your curiosity.
Mary Susan Chen's studies of Tai Chi began in 1993 and were her introduction into mind-body therapies. She considers herself a holistic movement seeker, and is a Physical Therapist and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. She works for Marianjoy's Pain Management Program in Oak Brook Terrace, teaches Awareness Through Movement® for Oak Park’s park district, and is in private practice in River Forest Illinois. She gracefully integrates traditional anatomy and therapy with processes that encourage a person to sense aliveness in their whole being and develop new pathways for healing. We will be studying the Yang style of Tai Chi, as well as gi gong exercises, and awareness practices.
Please wear loose clothing that you can move in, and prepare to practice barefoot, or bring clean (indoor only) soft-soled shoes.
When: Friday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Zen Life & Meditation Center
Cost: $18/class, $15 for ZLMC Members
