Mindful Dance

Zen Life & Meditation Center offers mindful Dance practice through the Hula. Hula is described as everything we see, hear, feel, taste and touch. Essentially hula, like Zen, is Life. It is the dance form of the Hawaiian people.

The practice of hula includes mindful awareness of body, arms, hands and feet placement as you tell stories of the beauty of Hawaii. Values of openness of heart, empathy of nature, and clarity or wisdom that comes when body, mind and heart are one.

Sensei June Ryushin Kaililani Tanoue - Kumu Hula

Sensei June Ryushin Kaililani Tanoue is also a fully empowered Kumu Hula (master teacher of the hula). She teaches beginner classes for children and adults. She founded Halau i Ka Pono - the Hula School of Chicago, a bonafide program of Zen Life + Meditation Center, in 2009.

Schedule:

Beginner Adult Classes, Saturdays 12:00–1:00 pm.

Beginner Childrenʻs Classes, Saturdays 8:45 - 9:45 am  Ages 5 - 10 years old

Cost:

$20/class or $70 for 4 classes (adults)

$15/class or $50 for 4 classes (children)
