The news we now receive on a daily basis of another shooting or horrific act of violence is becoming the new norm. What was at first shocking is now just numbing. We have entered new territory as a nation and as a world. We are fighting an asymmetrical war, not between left and right or north and south but between those who would continue democratic processes of openness and transparency and those who want to tear it all down.
This is a dangerous time that will require all of us to be courageous and brave. This is not a time to give in to fear or to over-react, but to consider the suffering on all sides and find ways to heal wounds and come together as a community, as a nation as a world.
